The OML Center shared their findings on the Ecosystems Rehabilitation and Management on the Yolanda-affected areas at Conservation International’s (CI) learning session and workshop. This was a week-long workshop that aimed to revisit the LGU’s experiences in managing the Verde Island Passage through and Ecosystems-based Adaptation (EbA) approach. This was held last 21-23 July 2015 at the Mother Spinelli Retreat House in Tagaytay City.

A panel session was held during the last day to highlight the recurring issues on climate change, vulnerability, coastal and marine management, and marine protected areas. The OML Center presented their work on recommended mangrove management and interpretation on the eco-engineering models. The findings on the pressures to the river ecosystems brough about by strong waves were likewise observed by the local communities and was addressed as a gap in coastal management. Along with the Center, representatives from the Manila Observatory, DLSU, DENR-BMB and UP-MSI shared their insights relating to the said topics.

While the EbA program is coming to as close, CI remains committed to be involved in protecting the ecosystems of the Verde Island Passage.
