Researchers, educators, and practitioners from across the entire Asia-Pacific region, who have academic background, primarily in psychology and affiliated fields, and who are interested and experienced in work on disasters are invited to participate in the 4th International Workshop on Psychological Intervention After Disasters to be held at the City Lake Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan from 9-12 November 2015.

The event seeks to foster the discussion and understanding of the need to respond to the mental health consequences of regional disasters. This purpose rests upon the following facts: 1) the Asia Pacific region experiences 41% of the world’s natural disasters that cause extensive damage, loss of life, and severe hardship and 2) focus is typically concentrated on addressing physical and infrastructural devastation while less attention is paid to effects on individuals, especially of psychological adversity.

The Workshop is being organized by the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS), Integrated Research on Disaster Risk, International Centre of Excellence (IRDR-ICoE), ICSU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ICSU ROAP), and the Center for Applied Developmental Science (CADS) in partnership with the Jacobs Foundation, Chinese Psychological Society (CPS), and the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH).

3. An abstract of the poster you will present at the workshop – you will be asked to make a short presentation of your poster, which should cover your work and/or research, to the workshop. Your abstract should be no more than 200 words.
