OML Center Partnered with Knowledge Channel on LEEP Training Program in Surigao City

By: Carlo Carlos

The OML Center conducted special modules on The Funamentals of Disasters, Hazards, Weather and Climate in Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc.’s (K Channel) Learning Effectively through Enhanced Pedagogies (LEEP) Training Program. The training was held last 24-26 April 2014 in the Department of Education (DepEd) Surigao del Norte Division, Surigao City.

The LEEP Training was participated by the different public school principals and teachers throughout the province of Surigao del Norte, covering as much as 50 schools. The event was co-organized by K Channel through Mr. Edric Calma and by DepEd through the Division Superintendent Dr. Evelyn Fetalvero.

Knowledge Channel’s LEEP Training Program aims to train principals and teachers in fostering a student-centered learning environment. Furthermore, it aims to improve pedagogies where teachers learn to present their lessons in consideration of the student’s level of learning. A special feature of the LEEP program is the provision of relevant topics that a certain region would need. With Surigao del Norte being one of the most vulnerable provinces in the country, it is apt to include topics on CCA and DRR as specialized modules for this particular training.

The OML Center shall render its continuous support to Knowledge Channel in promoting CCA and DRR in the country’s school systems.
