OML Center Thesis Grant

To be eligible for support, the applicant must be a resident of the Philippines and enrolled in a reputable academic institution and the study should fall under any of the following research areas.

  • Evidence-based Study on Rebuilding Yolanda-affected Areas and Communities
  • Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) in Urban Areas and Critical Watersheds
  • Advances in Climate Science (downscaling climate scenarios; sensors/instruments for climate prediction)
  • Strategies on Flood and Water Management
  • Climate Change Impacts on Terrestrial, Aquatic and Urban Ecosystems
  • Enhanced Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessments
  • Integrated Ecosystem-Based Management
  • Climate-Responsive Sectors (forestry, agriculture, health, infrastructure etc.)

Guidelines and Procedure

  1. The applicant should sent a Letter of Intent (LOI) to OML Center highlighting the thesis significance and conformity with the Center’s priorities, and submit with the following:
  • Approved research outline
  • Endorsement of adviser
  • Certified true copy of grades (for MS or PhD program)
  • Thesis budget including all sources of funding and the items where the OML Center funding will be used.
  1. The OML Center will evaluate the application which may include an interview with the applicant.
  2. Applicants will be informed of the OML Center decision within 45 days of receipt of application.
  3. The selected grantee should signify acceptance of the terms and conditions of the scholarship grant by signing a Thesis Support Agreement.
  4. The support can be used by student for printing, report preparation and editing, field visit, purchase of related books and journals, seminar, workshops, etc.
  5. The OML Center will award the Thesis Grant to the student.
  6. In general, thesis grants will not exceed PhP 50,000
