Workshop on Impact of Climate Change on Forest Work

The ECE/FAO/ILO Joint Expert Network to implement Sustainable Forest Management is organizing a workshop on the impact of climate change on forestry work. This workshop is scheduled to take place in Geneva on 11 November with a field trip on 12 November 2013 (tbc).

The objective of the workshop is to identify climate change related impacts on forestry work and ways and means to address them, by reviewing existing solutions and possible innovations and formulating recommendations for forest entrepreneurs, forest owners as well as policy makers and training centres.

The tentative programme features five sessions:

  1. Opening and setting the scene;
  2. Impact of climate change on forest health;
  3. Impact of climate change on forest operations;
  4. Challenges and opportunities;
  5. Conclusions and recommendations.

Interpretation services for the sessions will be provided in English, French and Russian.
