OML Center participate in Stakeholders’ Consultation on Draft DAO

by: Justine Ravi C. Orduña

The OML Center participated in the consultation of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on the Draft Department Administrative Order (DAO) that aims to strengthen the incorporation of climate change in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) System, held last December 15 in the Social Hall of the DENR Building.
The formulated DAO considers into project planning and implementation the climate change science and policy, climate-related information and maps,  and mechanisms for stakeholder participation. This is to enhance the projects’ climate resilience and to prevent the project impacts from exacerbating climate impacts and risks.
DENR-EMB invited speakers from Manila Observatory (Dr. Gemma Narisma), PAGASA (Ms. Thelma Cinco), and World Bank (Dr. Rolando Cuaño), then presented the Draft DAO. The reactors were experts from the Climate Change Science, Industry, Public Infrastructure Agency, and two Reviewers from the Department of Energy (DoE) and from UP Diliman Department of Anthropology.
