OML Center at APEC SME Summit

The OML Center exhibited at the recent APEC SME Summit to connect with businesses and regional policy for a climate-informed SME sector. Held alongside the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, the APEC SME Summit was attended by over 500 small and medium-sized business entrepreneurs and other stakeholders from the region who shared success stories of SME innovation and internationalization. The Center featured climate change to highlight the vulnerability of SMEs to its effects.

The Center’s exhibit highlighted a 3D topography model to simulate the process of mapping used in its banner project, Flood Inundation Mapping Using LiDAR and GIS (FIMULG). The climate report jointly published by PAGASA and the Center was likewise featured in the exhibit. It also drew in throngs to take the climate change challenge – a 3-part quiz. Through the generosity of UP-MSI’s Prof. Laura David and her team, the exhibit included the Resilience Game, which attracted visitors to the booth.

One of the noted visitors of the exhibit was Mr. Juan Francisco Raffo, Chair of ABAC Peru and honorary chair of Raffo Group, one of Peru’s most important conglomerates. Peru hosts APEC next year.
