EMI and Makati City to hold a discussion forum on Philippine DRRM Act

Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI), in partnership with the City of Makati to hold a Megacities Forum on Building Urban Resilience: Philippines Republic Act No. 10121 (Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010) Achievements, Challenges and Progress in Local Implementation.  It will be held on July 11, 2014 at the 22nd Floor, Makati City Session Hall, Philippines. The forum will proceed after the launching of EMI’s Institute for Urban Resilience.

The Megacities Forum will provide an opportunity to discuss, assess, and review the local implementation of RA10121 from different perspectives (i.e. LGUs, national government, international organizations, academe and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) functions. The resulting scores will serve as a proxy to identify accomplishments and challenges in the implementation of RA10121. The Forum will also initiate dialog among all stakeholders to provide learning and sharing opportunities in the local implementation; and promote and disseminate sound practices, initiatives and investments in urban disaster risk reduction.

Registration is free But is limited to 250 participants. (Event is open to all. Transportation costs will be shouldered by the participants.)
